Nominations for the 2003 Alcuin Award

Letter from European Parents' Association
(Association Européenne des Parents d'Elèves)

The European Parents' Association (EPA) invites nominations for the 2003 Alcuin Award, now in its 13th year, which will celebrate the best innovations in Europe in the field of parents and schools.

The Alcuin Award is the only European prize for educational excellence and the only award in which parents and their associations play a decisive role throughout. It can be granted to a person or a project.

Besides parents' associations we also involve national ministries in the nomination process.

We would be grateful if you could identify outstanding projects for consideration and nominate one candidate.

The final selection will take place at the annual EPA-conference, this year in Graz, where five candidate-projects will present themselves to a European audience. The Alcuin Jury - consisting of prominent Europeans - will then designate the winner.

Please find enclosed a dossier including the criteria and nomination information.

The deadline for entry is 1 June 2003.

EPA looks forward to receiving your contribution to this unique initiative, which effectively demonstrates the vital contribution made by parents' associations towards the developemnt of quality education for our children.

Yours sincerely,

Karin Schütz
President of EPA
