Lorraine Sanda, Parental Involvement Co-ordinator, of Learning and Teaching Scotland
spoke on the subject of Parental Involvement in Scotland

One of the main topics to be covered at the Conference was around internet safety/safe social
networking
(eg Facebook types of sites) as we feel children use them regularly but their parents
tend not to be up to speed with them.

In this respect, we were delighted to be able to bring you Helen Penn (Head of Education) -
an expert from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre -
a Government run, multi-faceted child protection agency forthe UK.
(They were featured in a Panorama television programme which they
took part in covering online safety, shortly before the conference.)

Visit www.thinkuknow.co.uk/teachers and register with the website.
Once your account has been verified you may be able to access a number of our resources.

To continue with the ‘safety’ theme, we also covered Health and Safety issues in schools
and were pleased that Jeff Hardman, from European Education Consultants provided a
presentation on this at the Conference.
