& AGMs Conference 2007 - Developing a Parent Council and Encouraging Parental Involvement SSBA's Annual Conference & AGM 2007 took place on Saturday 17 March, 2007. Here are details of the key speaches :- Robert Brown, Deputy Minister for Education and Young People Gerry Lyons, Head Teacher, All Saints Secondary School, Glasgow Gerry Lyons' presentation (2.2MB) Ian Fraser, Corporate Director of Education and Social Care, Inverclyde Council Conference 2006 - The Way Forward for Parental Involvement SSBA's Annual Conference & AGM 2006 took place on Saturday 18 March, 2006. Peter Peacock, Minister for Education and Young People attended the Conference along with Professor Walter Humes, Director of Research, School of Education, University of Aberdeen (returning by popular request) and Celia Burn, Parental Involvement Coordinator, Learning Teaching Scotland and Ronnie O'Connor, Executive Director (Education, Training and Young People), Glasgow City Council. Professor Walter Humes Presentation In the afternoon was the SSBA AGM. On the agenda was the report for the past year and the accounts and proposed changes to the Articles of Association for SSBA. Conference 2005 SSBA's Annual Conference 2005, was jointly organised by North Lanarkshire Council School Board Unit and SSBA, and was held on Saturday 19 March 2005 at the Strathclyde Hilton, Bellshill. The theme was "Parents in Partnership" and we are pleased that Philip Rycroft, Head of Schools Group, Scottish Executive Education Department was our guest speaker. The Conference concentrated on the "Parents in the 21st Century - Consultation" and we ran workshops on this theme as it is an extremely important topic.
